About Sarah

Get to know the person behind Road Ready School of Motoring.

Hi, I'm Sarah!

I grew up in Rawdon, Leeds and after many years working in London for the Department of Health, I moved back home in 2009 to be close to family and friends. I now live in Rawdon with my husband Jamie, our two children and our three cats Popcorn, Jessie-cat and Big Dave.

Before becoming a driving instructor I worked as a teaching assistant at Rawdon St Peter's Primary School, where I led Outdoor Learning, taking children outside for bushcraft, den building and exploring the natural world. It was that role that gave me a love of insects and the outdoors, and the skills I picked up as a teaching assistant transfer really well to the coaching side of being a driving instructor. I wanted a new challenge and Road Ready was born.

When I'm not teaching I love hiking, spending every Easter exploring the Scottish Highlands with my family, and volunteering at Leeds City Athletic Club as a Welfare Officer and qualified Field Judge.

Oh, and I have a plastic articulated slug in the car that students are welcome to wiggle if they're feeling stressed. Nobody has used it yet, but it's there just in case!

What Makes Road Ready Different?

  • Fully independent, not tied to a franchise, so lessons are tailored entirely around you
  • Engaging, fun and educational lessons that offer real value for money
  • A clean, well presented 2022 Kia Rio that students say feels like driving a cloud

The Little Touches Matter

Every Christmas Sarah gives her students a little chocolate snowman as a thank you for their continued support. At Easter it's a chocolate Easter bunny. It's a small gesture but it's Sarah's way of showing how much she appreciates every single one of her students.
